Welcome to my website. My name is Ian Lacy and I live near Lincoln in the next village to where I spent most of my later childhood years. After medical school and GP training my wife and I worked in Pakistan and then followed my father into the local medical practice. until I retired some years ago.
have been writing poetry for several years and thought the time had come for me to share it more widely. Books are great but the web is more accessible!
I hope to add to the website reasonably often, with poems that I have written and self published in the past as well as new pieces.
My original inspiration was the the landscape of the are where I live - the edge of the northern tip of the fens where the limestone counterscarp of the Lincoln Edge slopes down into the Vale of Lindsey, just outside Lincoln. To the east lie the wolds, and beyond them the marsh and the sea.
But as time has passed I have ecxplored love, loss and the lives of some people in the Bible you may have heard about - plus a bit of humour !
I write as a Christian, but this is not meant to specifically Christian poetry. Rather it tries to look at the world I believe God made as someone travelling through it, enjoying it and pointing out things that mean a lot to me and that you might like too.
Why the website heading? Well, Ironstone, because it lies under the land near where I live (and my first name is Ian) and Irises because they are beautiful and grow in wild wet places as well as gardens.

I would love to hear your thoughts on my poetry!
